Company was set up in 1979 and became a member of the Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce
and Industry. A separate training division was developed in 1983 and started with 100
students. In 1987 the Manpower Services Commission of the British Government approved BCS
as a Training Organisation at a formal Award ceremony.
In August 1991 BCS was approved as an Accredited Centre by City and Guilds and the Greater Nottingham Training and Enterprise Council also formally approved BCS as an Approved Training Organisation in May 1991. BCS then became an approved centre by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health in 1991 for the delivery of the Basic Food Hygiene Course and later the Basic Health and Safety Course. In addition BTEC approved BCS for the delivery of certain courses. BCS continued to offer a wide range of Health and Safety Training to industry and in 1993 became an approved centre for the delivery of the NEBOSH General Certificate course in Health and Safety. During 1995 the first NVQ level 3 and 4 in Occupational Health & Safety was introduced and BCS was one of the first to be approved as a Centre to deliver the course in 1996 and it is examined by it's own Assessors and Internal Verifiers and externally accredited by City and Guilds. BCS is positive about disabled people and was pleased to receive the award from Employment Services and presented by Lord Buchanan in 1996. In 1997 BCS College received an award from Frank J Davies, chairmen of the Health and Safety Commission, in recognition of the valued contribution BCS has made to the European week of Health and Safety that year. During 1998 BCS were accredited by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health for the delivery of their courses in Managing Safely and Working Safely & during that year the Construction Industry Training Board appointed BCS College to upgrade & develop their national safety awareness course. In the Spring of 2000 the Greater Nottingham Learning Partnership sponsored an event by BCS college as part of the governments new public service to help adults get information and advice about learning opportunities. On the 7th June 2000 BCS College were approved by the Health and Safety Executive to deliver the full four day First Aid at Work Course In 2000 BCS College made formal arrangements with the Greater Nottingham Training and Enterprise Council to obtain the investors in people award and achieved the award on 29th March 2001 On the 2nd January 2003 BCS College were the first organisation to be
approved to deliver the new NVQ3, NVQ4 and NVQ5 in occpational health and safety and are already acknowledged as the largest providor in the
