•  Realise your liability for contractors.
•  Understand the impact on insurance.
•  Identify non-insurable liabilities.
•  Be able to develop a procedure.

There is perhaps nothing worse than being prosecuted and sued for something that was apparently caused by a subcontractor or third party working on your premises and you consider that you did nothing wrong !! The avoidance and/or limitation of this risk is achieved by having suitable procedures in place, which is a main objective of this course.

Every organisation will normally, at some stage, have other companies working on their own premises perhaps to repair plant and machinery, to repair computer systems, electrical alterations and repairs, painting, cleaning, routine maintenance, specialist individuals or specialist companies and the list goes on.

All these companies and agency workers and self employed persons need to be properly managed otherwise your company may become liable to criminal prosecution under the provisions of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and you may have problems with your normally insurable losses. The higher the risk category of a company as a whole, the higher the likely risk associated with contractors working at your premises. Small companies working in your establishment are less likely to have proper systems in place and hence you must ask what systems do you have in place to protect your organisation.

Could you sustain a combined fine and costs of £275,000 as a company in Hull had to pay when a hot water boiler exploded when they seem to have relied on a contractor ? This is a well structured and prepared course with case studies and will provide a good foundation to develop your procedure from the well prepared information and a structured example.
