Managing Safely (4 day course)
This is a certificated course delivered by BCS College who are accredited by I.O.S.H.
Managing Safely has been developed by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health to address the safety and health training needs of the non expert who is required to manage safely and effectively in compliance with their organisation's policy and best practice in health & safety.
The syllabus covers:-
• Safety management systems, the role of risk assessment and how safety management links with other aspects of management, legal requirements and the social environment.
• Reactive monitoring including which incidents have to be reported, checking that reports are being made, recording reported incidents, conducting investigations, records results and analysing records.
• Risk assessment and risk control including making an inventory of sources of hazards, identifying hazards associated with each source, rating risks, selecting workplace precautions and recording results of risk assessments and reviews.
• Preparing and using active monitoring checklists, implementing schedules for active monitoring, recording results and analysing records.
• Safety policy, organising and conducting a management review of the safety management system and preparing for a health and safety audit.
• Identifying relevant legislation and obtaining advice and guidance on compliance.
• Managing the sources of hazards.
There are interim assessments on the course and a final assessment which is completed on the work environment at work and submitted shortly after the course completion. (If you are not employed then please discuss this with us before booking the course)
Course content and duration may vary as a result of changes imposed by the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health but details were correct at the time of publication. This course includes interactive elements and syndicate work providing a good and enjoyable learning experience.
If you are travelling to the College there is the local Robin Hood train line station, tram station, bus station and a taxi rank, plus the College is only a few minutes from the M1 motorway. Transport could not be easier and if you are arriving by car, the local car parks are free.
Buffet lunch provided on each day and drinks are included. (please advise at least 7 days before your arrival of any special dietary needs)
