[Back] Asbestos Initial Assessor
1 Day Course. (includes new 2006 Asbestos at Work Regulations)
These will have a serious impact on many companies in the UK. The course will cover the important aspects of those changes and how to deal with them an, in particular, the requirement and the liability and management of asbestos in buildings occupied.
This is an excellent course for all personnel at Management or Supervisory level and including the Self-Employed as well as Contractors in the Construction Industry but it will also benefit many other organisations and is designed to lead to the Award of Competent Initial Assessor.
It enables the candidate to assess the risks involved with asbestos and ensuring compliance with the law so far as is reasonably practicable and to be able to decide when a licensed contractor is needed, how they should operate, and what to include in a safe system of work and what to do when an uncontrolled escape of asbestos occurs. The course takes a detailed look at the regulations including action levels and control limits and how these are computed.
Every Contractor may unwittingly remove or cut a hole in Asbestos and without a thorough knowledge of the requirements or procedures etc, serious infringement of the law could result. More than one person has been imprisoned and ignorance was no defence. Asbestos related diseases are reported to be rising to an average of 10,000 deaths/year.
You will be provided with comprehensive information and guidance in our Delegate Pack and we even provide sample forms for notification and inspection to help set up your own systems. The course includes numerous case studies which you will evaluate. Following the course you will also be aware of the risks and dangers involved with asbestos and be better informed so that Anthophyllite, Actinolite and Crocidolite etc will no longer be a mystery and your understanding of Asbestos fibres will be much improved.
A quality certificated course. Course fee includes delegate pack, buffet lunch and certification
