| When will the Hall of Fame be launched |
| It will definitely be available in January 2012, but we hope to have the first stage on line in December 2011. It will take a while for so many candidates to be loaded into the system so if you are looking for yours then please be patient. The first ones to go in will be the most recent and then we aim to continue in reverse order. If you have done a Post Graduate course at BCS College in the past and your picture is not in the Hall of Fame by the end of January 2012 then do give us a call and let us know. |
| Can I take the previous NVQ 5 |
| If you are already registered then you can take the NVQ 5 at BCS College through City & Guilds but there is a limited time to complete. A number of candidates registered for this award during the period they were undertaking other training at BCS College. This meant that when the award was closed for further registration in July 2011, candidates could still take the award provided it is completed before the final award date is closed. We anticipate that for registered students they will have until 2013, but do check with the Examinations Department at BCS College and they will provide the exact final date for your registration. The NVQ 5 provides a combined award of Post Graduate Certificate at BCS College. The course is only sold to pre-registered candidates. |
| Will the Diploma 7 help my IOSH CPD ? |
| The Diploma 7 is directly involved in the higher level operations of a Health and Safety Practitioner and hence you can reflect on every Unit of the award as well as each assignment and hence accumulating multiple points towards your CPD with the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health. |
| What do I gain from the Hall of Fame |
| The Hall of Fame provides a long term record of your achievement and even potential employers around the world can gain access to check out your claim for the award. It is very nice to include in your C.V. a reference to the Hall of Fame at www.bcscollege.com where an employer can see confirmation of your award by a specialist higher education college of such good standing. It is a credit to your achievement and a reference for all. |

| In the first instance you need to be in the Hall of Fame. Then from that record identified candidates are selected at random to go on the front page. If you ask to go on the front page we will do our best to accommodate your request but guarantees cannot be provided as there is only one picture on the front page. |

| If you undertake a qualification at BCS College which also has a Post Graduate Award then you will normally be eligible to be included in the Hall of Fame on line. There is a document to sign for your agreement to deal with Data Protection legislation. |
| How does the Diploma 7 compare to the previous NVQ 5 |
| The Diploma 7 was a new addition in 2011 and provides the next level of academic achievement. The NVQ 5 (not to be confused with the lower level Diploma 5) would probably be at Diploma 6 if it still existed today. The NVQ 5 was delivered as a combined award at BCS College with a Post Graduate Certificate which was based on the level of work produced. The Diploma 7 not only fills the gap left behind but provides a higher level of achievement and hence the award is also provided with a Post Graduate Diploma in Health and Safety Management for eligible candidates. The Diploma 7 is, of course, significantly higher than the Diploma 5 (in Occupational Health and Safety) and is focused on Management. |
| Can I obtain Charter status at IOSH with a Diploma 5 ? |
| The Diploma 5 is accepted by IOSH for the Graduate level entry which is the first stage pre-requisite to Charter. There is an IPD open test (at home) to take, CPD to maintain and a peer interview to follow and it is after that stage you are awarded Charter status. Membership requirements are controlled by IOSH so checking the most up to date requirements is best done with IOSH. The NVQ 4 (now no longer available) is an equal academic course to the Diploma 5 and you can currently still apply to IOSH for Graduate membership as above and then pursue your way through to Charter. Any changes in the future will be at the discretion of IOSH. |
| Is the new Diploma 5 the same level as the NVQ 5 |
| No, the NVQ 5 is a much higher level qualification. The NVQ numbering scale was very different from the new scale which ranges from award, certificate level and up to Diploma and has numbers from 1 through to 8. The whole new scale is very different from the previous scale and hence the numbers just do not compare. Eg: an NVQ 4 will be a Diploma 5 on the new scale but they are at the same level. The NVQ 5 was a Management qualification in Occupational Safety and Health and hence much higher than the NVQ 4 and hence is much higher than a Diploma 5. The NVQ 5 was also at a level such that BCS College candidates were able to obtain this award alongside the Post Graduate award at BCS College. |
| How much does it cost to join IOSH |
| The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health is a professional and prestigious organisation and provides various membership levels ranging from Affiliate all the way through to Chartered level. Membership fees will increase from time to time but if you join through BCS College as a student at BCS College (part time or full time) then you will currently obtain a discount on the joining fee (conditions apply - this offer may be withdrawn at any stage without notice as it is controlled by IOSH).
